A couple first singles have been released from a couple bands I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing in 2013. The both had two of my top 5 favorite albums in 2010 and are ready for their follow ups.
First off is Foals who are from Oxford, England. They're set to release their third full length effort "Holy Fire" on February 11th. Their first single "Inhaler" ramps up the energy and volume a bit but keeps the nice laid back grooves from their previous "Total Life Forever". Enjoying it.
Second off is L.A. indie rock band Local Natives who released just a gem of a debut "Gorilla Manor" that I still am enjoying three years on. Their first single "Breakers" from their upcoming "Hummingbird" LP continues in the same space that made their debut such a winner. Smart on songwriting, percussion and melodies...the whole nine yards. "Hummingbird" is due out January 29, 2013. So while we're wrapping up 2012 there is still things to look forward to in the up and coming year (also new releases Toro Y Moi, Frightened Rabbit and Unknown Mortal Orchestra) which is why music is so great to me. You always have something to look forward to from bands you've discovered and could discover. It's a never ending cycle I plan on sharing with a new addition to the family in the new year.
